Carl’s Jr, a fast food burger chain out west, has enlisted Youtube celebrities to create viral videos to promote their new Portobello Mushroom Six-Dollar Burger to the web.

According to Adweek, the “YouTube stars were chosen not only for their creative flair, but for the networks of followers they can mobilize. Justine Ezarik, for instance, not only has 94,000 subscribers to the iJustine YouTube channel — the nine YouTube celebs combined total 3.8 million subscribers on the site — but also boasts 590,000 followers on Twitter (Twitter) and 25,000 Facebook (Facebook) fans.”

The first video from Ryan Higa is already at 2,393,781 views in only two weeks! Check out more videos at Carl’s Jr youtube page.

A&E made this viral video to promote MC Hamer’s reality show called Hammertime. It’s basically a group of dancers wearing Hammer Pants flashmobing a trendy store and surprising a bunch of hipsters in skinny jeans. It’s pretty damn funny! This video got over 880,000 views in eight days and currently at 1,398,382 views. HAMMERTIME!

Viral Idea of the Day: 5.18.09

18/06/2009

I’m a big fan of viral videos. That is why I spend probably most of my day doing work and looking at cool youtube videos that my friends pass along.

Ken Block owns and co-founded DC Shoes but he is also trying to pursue a professional racing career as a rally driver. In order to promote his favorite racing sport to his audience, the unknown rally sport called Gymkhana, he created a sweet viral video to show his own brand DC Shoes, his favorite sport and his sponsor: Subaru.

This is his take on what a Infomercials “one that sells the products with great action, cinematography, and a dramatic driving performance.” I also love the intro copy to the video.

Warning! The following is a product advertisement. You are going to be bombarded with visuals of great looking products, and then entertained by motorsports eye candy. Do not resist the temptation to purchase the products when prompted to do so. Enjoy!

18/06/2009

I’ve decided to make a daily blog post of fresh new digital ideas as well as other topics. The reason for this is so I can have a personal log of digital ideas that I can use hopefully as reference. So I present to you the first of many of digital idea of the day.

Lm3Labs is a company based out of Tokyo, Japan that develop interactive solutions for brands. They have created some sweet interactive products like Airstrike that honestly will bring a whole new way on how we interact with tables, floors, walls, public spaces, shops, and transportation in our daily life. Check out some of these videos to see basically what I’m talking about. It really is the next level of interactive.
